Frequently Asked Questions
What types of paper currency do you buy?
We buy a wide range of collectible U.S. paper money, including Federal Reserve Notes, Federal Reserve Bank Notes, Legal Tender Notes, Silver Certificates, Gold Certificates, National Bank Notes, Error Notes, Obsolete Bank Notes, Fractional Currency, and Colonial Currency. From large-size notes dating back to the 1800s to small-size notes and rare printing errors, if it’s collectible U.S. currency, we’re interested. We also purchase foreign currency—just reach out and tell us what you have.
How do you determine the value of my old currency?
Several factors go into a note’s value. We look at its series and date, denomination, rarity, and condition (crisp, uncirculated notes command higher prices than worn ones). We also consider special features like unusual serial numbers, printing errors, and star notes, which can make a bill far more valuable than its face value. Each note is evaluated individually so you get a fair, accurate offer.
Is my old paper money worth more than its face value?
Often, yes. Many older and rare notes are worth well beyond their printed denomination to collectors—sometimes many times more. Silver and Gold Certificates, error notes, National Bank Notes, and early large-size bills can carry significant collector premiums. Even a common-looking bill may be valuable depending on its series, condition, or serial number. The only way to know for sure is to have it evaluated, and our appraisals are always free.
Do I need to get my currency graded before selling?
No, you don’t need to have your notes graded ahead of time. While professional grading from services like PMG or PCGS can help establish value on high-end notes, it isn’t required to sell to us—we’re happy to evaluate your currency as-is and explain what it’s worth. If a note would benefit from professional grading, we’ll let you know.
Do you offer free appraisals for paper currency?
Yes! We provide free, no-obligation appraisals on all U.S. and foreign currency. You can stop by our Lighthouse Point location or call us at 954.580.3595 to tell us about what you have. As one of South Florida’s leading currency buyers, we’ll give you top dollar for your notes.
