Before you visit, look closely at your jewelry for small stamps, usually inside a ring band or near a clasp:
- Solid gold is usually marked with a karat stamp like 10K, 14K or 18K, or a number like 417, 585 or 750.
- GF means gold-filled: a layer of gold bonded to a base metal.
- GP, GEP or HGE means gold-plated, with a very thin gold layer and little gold value.
- No stamp? Older and handmade pieces often aren’t marked. Bring them in and we’ll test them for free.
